Some time ago I announced the start of an album post series on djmetalheart.com where I want to feature my favorite rock and heavy metal records. So you can get an idea of the type of music I like and play at work.
Here I’m gonna open up the series with the best of 1980-1983 which I just choose randomly to start with. Probably because in the 80s a lot of records I like had been released.
Accept's fifth studio album is not only the bands top-selling record but also caused quite a stir due to the albums artwork and lyrics being considered gay. I personally love this record and "Balls to The Wall" or "London Leatherboys" are integral parts of my set. Sometimes I also use the live version of the title track by U.D.O from the album "Nailed To Metal". Personally, this is one of my favorite heavy metal albums ever and definitely a classic of this genre! I love all the songs and I never wanna miss this album on the job! From "Rapid Fire" to "Steeler" every song is awesome and playable! "Heaven and Hell" is the first Black Sabbath album to feature singer Ronnie James Dio. Along with many other songs from the godfathers of heavy metal I like to play the title track and "Neon Knights" from this record. On the Australian hard rock band's sixth internationally released studio album lead singer Brian Johnson makes his first appearance after Bon Scott's death. I like the complete album and vary the songs I play from it all the time but mostly listen to the title track and "Hells Bells". The debut album of the British Heavy Metal band is full of great riffs and also influenced bands like Metallica and Megadeth. At work I like to play the songs “Am I Evil”, ”Sweet And Innocent”, “It’s Electric” or “Lightning to the Nations”. The debut solo album of Ozzy Osbourne is full of great tracks like "Crazy Train", "Mr. Crowley" or "No Bone Movies". Also I like to play the 2002 reissue bonus track "You Lookin' at Me Lookin' at You". Well, what do I need to say about this album!? It's a classic and every song is playable! You always get the crowd going by playing "Ace Of Spades"! I love Saxon's last album with the classic line up. Songs like "Princess of The Night", "And The Bands Played On" or the title track and metal hymn "Denim And Leather" are always good for a listen. Although I wouldn't consider myself as the biggest fan of glam/sleaze metal, I like Mötley Crüe and this record offers a nice variety of songs to party. If your looking for cool easy hard rock/heavy metal take a look at this album by American Band Blue Öyster Cult. To rock out softly I like to play songs like "Burnin' For You", "Sole Survivor" or "Heavy Metal: The Black and Silver". I'm not the biggest Black Metal admirer but Venom's debut album offers excellent heavy, thrashy black metal. My favorite : "Live Like an Angel (Die Like a Devil)". Point Of Entry is the second of the three JP albums that I'm gonna present here. Unbelievable how this band managed to write three killer albums within three years. Anyway I love this album as it's not too heavy but still has the typical Judas Priest sound! If you don't know the band yet I'd definitely recommend you to check out this record! The most popular rock album by Joan Jett featuring her back band The Blackhearts. The opener "I love Rock N Roll" is guaranteed to make the crowd sing along and have fun. On this record my personal favorite tracks are "Children Of The Damned", "The Prisoner" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name". You can read more facts and thoughts about this album in a past post by clicking on the image. The German bands fourth studio album is most known for the opening track “Fast As A Shark”, which I like to play. This album is considered more speed metal than the band’s previous records and it’s essential to every Accept fan. I also love the song “Princess Of The Dawn”. Y&T's killer album Black Tiger offers the finest hard rock/glam metal and opens up with a fantastic intro. Most popular song on the album is "Forever" but the record offers more great tunes to play like "My Way Or The Highway" or "Hell Or High Water". The Canadian bands second studio album brings you cool straight heavy metal! I often play the opener and title song "Metal On Metal"! Judas Priest's eighth studio album is mostly known for the opener "Electric Eye" which is accompanied by the intro "The Hellion" (don't seperate those two! :-D). I also love to play "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" and "Bloodstone"! The first and most successful album by American Heavy Metal band Dio. To me, Ronnie James Dio is an awesome vocalist and I love to play the songs "Straight Through The Heart", "Holy Diver", "Don't Talk To Strangers" and "Rainbow In The Dark". Also the track "Invisible" which is less popular than the songs listed above is definitely worth a listen. The bands eighth studio album Eliminator contains songs like "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Bad Girl" which I like to play. On this album you also find the track "Gimme all your Lovin'" which is one of the most popular songs of the band and always great to make the crowd rock out. I'm a huge Maiden fan and I like to listen to all kinds of different songs from the band! From this album I like to play any of the first five songs the most. The bands third studio album features songs like "Cum On Feel The Noize" and "Metal Health (Bang your Head)" which I often play at work. Metallica's debut studio album offers great Thrash Metal! I love to play songs like "Whiplash", "Hit the Lights" or "Seek & Destroy".
